Contemporary British Painting Prize 2026
Artist Ben Sadler is the prizewinner of the 2026 CBP Prize, receiving £8000, an essay written about his painting practice by Georgina Kettlewell (Director of YAS), membership of Contemporary British Painting and to be one of the selectors for the 2028 CBP Prize.
The ‘Highly Commended’ winner is Christopher Cook.

The Judith Tucker Memorial Prize

The winner was announced on Saturday 19 September 2026 at Yorkshire Artspace: Persistence Works, Sheffield. The exhibition tours to Thames-Side Studios Gallery, London.

Our heartfelt thanks to Georgina Kettlewell, Katherine Lloyd and Ryan Mosley for their thoughtful consideration in judging this year‘s Contemporary British Painting Prize; to Hannah Brown, Griselda Pollock and Harriet Tarlo for selecting the winners of the Judith Tucker Memorial Prize; and of course to Georgina Kettlewell for also selecting the winner of the inaugural YAS Exhibition Award.
The shortlisted artists were selected by a group of practicing painters, all members of Contemporary British Painting: Daniel H Bell (winner of the 2024 prize), Emma Tod, Iain Anderson and Rachel Lancaster.
