‘Contemporary British Painting’ is an artist led organisiation which explores and promotes current trends in British painting through group exhibitions, talks, publications and the donation of paintings to art museums.
We are currently running a series of group painting shows which explore ideas around the relevance of painting in the digital age, at the crypt, St. Marylebone (just a 4 min walk from Baker St. tube). We founded the The Contemporary British Painting Prize in 2016, an annual prize promoting the best of contemporary painting produced in the UK. For the 2018 prize the show will be hosted at Huddersfield Art Gallery and the Menier Gallery, London (in partnership with Paintings in Hospitals). As part of the award, the 2017 prize winner Narbi Price will have a solo exhibition at Herrick Gallery in Autumn 2018.
Our members represent some of the most exciting emerging and award winning painting in the UK today and include European Sovereign Painters Prize winner Susan Gunn, East London Painting Prize winner Nathan Eastwood, John Moores Prize winner Nicholas Middleton, British Academy awardee James Quin, Birtle Prize winner Simon Burton, Venice Biennale exhibitors Marguerite Horner and Phil Illingworth and Griffin Prize exhibitor Matthew Krishanu.
Membership is by invitation only.
