Nathan Eastwood was born in Barrow-in-Furness in 1972. He was the winner of the inaugural East London Painting Prize in 2014. He says of his work that “Central to my painting practice is a re-examination of social realism.
My paintings are concerned with the examination and revealing of real life, working class life, an ordinary everyday experience of the world, from shopping to politics. The paintings have become allegorical of working class life. What is the working class today? Who is the working class? What do they look like?”
